Self-ballasted level regulator for wastewater
The AQUA XL self-ballasted level regulator is a float level switch with internal ballast. It offers an efficient and economical solution for automatic pump control or alarm devices in most pumping applications: wastewater, wastewater treatment, pumping station.
The AQUA XL self-ballasted level regulator is also designed to penetrate grease layers that may form on the liquid surface, ensuring stable and durable operation.
When the liquid level reaches the float, it tilts and activates the internal contact, allowing the start or stop of a pump, or triggering an alarm depending on the chosen setup.
Thanks to its small switching angle, the AQUA XL level regulator ensures precise level detection and can be used for both high and low alarms.
The AQUA XL level regulator is also available in a compact version, specially designed for low-clearance installations: discover the AQUA MEDIUM level regulator.
⚠️ Warning: due to its design, the AQUA XL self-ballasted level regulator is not recommended for agitated liquids. In this case, choose level switches from the BIP STOP / BIP AT range.

Drainage or FillingThe self-ballasted level regulator AQUA XL rises and falls according to the liquid level and when the liquid reaches a certain level in the tank, the float tilts. The mechanical switch opens or closes depending on the selected mode. For this, the self-ballasted level regulator AQUA XL is equipped in series with a three-conductor cable (COM, NO, NC) allowing use in two operating modes depending on the cable predefined upstream. Used in tandem with another float of the same type, it allows regulation of the minimum and maximum levels of a tank. |
In drainage mode, the self-ballasted level regulator triggers the pump start in high position (anti-overflow). An electric current passes through the float to the connected device (control relay, pumps, valves, alarms).
Once the tank is empty, the self-ballasted level regulator cuts the electrical circuit to protect the equipment (pumps) in the absence of water in the tank.
In filling mode, the electrical circuit inside the self-ballasted level regulator remains closed (NC) when the switch is in low position. Thus, the pump starts to fill the tank.
PositioningThe triggering of the self-ballasted float level switch (switching angle) may vary depending on liquid agitation, filling/drainage flow rate but does not vary according to the fixing point. |
Due to its design with integrated internal ballast, the float does not allow adjustment of the tilt angle, unlike level regulators with external ballast on cable.
Consequently, the trigger level remains constant, regardless of the cable fixing point.
The self-ballasted level regulator AQUA XL allows fast and precise detection on several levels thanks to its low switching angle.
The indicative switching range is as follows:
Min value Y = Any >>> X ≈ 17-20 CM
Float fixingThe float level switch can be suspended via the cable sheath, using the FIXCAB fixing accessory, which allows proper fixing of the electrical cable at the desired height and allows precise adjustment at any time. Be careful when using clamps or other elements during fixing which can damage the cable and deteriorate the device by allowing water to enter inside the float level switch by capillarity.
|
Electrical connectionIn outdoor or humid spaces, the electrical connection of the float level switch must be waterproof and properly insulated in a hermetic box, thus preventing water or other contaminants from entering the cable. This helps prevent water infiltration that could compromise the safety of electrical connections as well as the float lifespan. The electrical junction box must never be placed inside the tank. The cable and its capillary can be extended using a standard signal cable. We equip our floats with the cable length you desire to avoid connections that would harm their operation.
