The SOLIBA EX P level detector is an ATEX certified level detector specially designed for automatic filling stop control in silos or storage cells located in explosive risk zones classified 20, 21 and 22 (dust).
Its operating principle is based on tilt technology: installed inside the hopper or silo, the detector tilts under the pressure of the forming product slope, thus triggering the filling stop.
ATMI is the only manufacturer in the world to offer this mechanical tilt technology for level detection in grains and powdered materials.
The SOLIBA EX P level detector can be safely used in installations already equipped with other detection systems (rotary paddles, vibrating rods, capacitive probes, ultrasound, radars, etc.).

Securing installations by tilt detectionInstalled inside the silo, hopper or storage cell, it is suspended at the end of its electrical cable. During filling, the bulk material (grains, powders, granules, etc.) forms a slope. When the slope reaches the detector, it causes it to tilt. The tilt change then activates an electrical contact, which sends a stop or control signal to the automation system (e.g. filling stop, alarm trigger, etc.).

The float level switch can be suspended via the cable sheath, using a support or the cable fixing accessory (FIXCAB), which allows proper fixing of the electrical cable at the desired height and allows precise adjustment at any time.
Beware of using clamps or other elements during installation, which can damage the cable and deteriorate the device by allowing water to enter inside the float level switch by capillarity.
The triggering of the level detector (switching angle) can vary depending on its position relative to the slope formed by the bulk material, but especially depending on the ballast positioning or the fixing point.
You can adjust the fixing point or the counterweight on the device cable. Thus, the greater the distance between the ballast and the detector, the larger the switching angle, and consequently, the later the level detection.
To adjust the ballast on the cable, simply pull on the plastic or resin ballast to unclip it from the clamping ring or O-ring. Then slide the clamping ring/O-ring to the desired location and replace the ballast on top, so that the weight is locked on the cable.
In outdoor or humid spaces, the electrical connection of the float level switch must be watertight and properly insulated in a sealed box, thus preventing water or other contaminants from entering the cable. This helps prevent water infiltration that could compromise the safety of electrical connections as well as the lifespan of the float. The electrical junction box must never be placed inside the tank. The cable and its capillary can be extended using a standard signal cable. We equip our floats with the cable length you want to avoid connections that would impair their operation. |
The SOLIBA EX P provides a simple and reliable mechanical solution to secure your installations compared to other types of equipment such as vibrating rods, capacitive probes, ultrasonic sensors, radar, etc.
The SOLIBA EX P is specially designed to withstand the most demanding conditions of bulk storage environments. During filling phases, the falling grain can generate significant abrasion at the impact point.
To cope with these constraints, the detector is equipped with a double Hypalon casing, a material recognized for its exceptional resistance to wear, shock and mechanical stress.
The SOLIBA EX P thus offers a durable, reliable solution adapted to abrasive industrial environments, without compromising performance.
Thanks to its cylindrical shape, the detector does not sink into the grain during detection phases. This geometry ensures excellent position stability guaranteeing reliable and repeatable detection over time.
✔ Constant operation
✔ No disturbance related to material accumulation
✔ No maintenance required
To best define the float level switch suited to your needs, ATMI offers a wide range of level switches for liquids and solids in various applications.
