The SOLIBA PM metal cage is a protection specially designed to secure the SOLIBA or SOLIBA EX P level detector during level detection applications in demanding industrial environments.
Made of highly robust aluminum die-cast, its main function is to protect the sensor against mechanical impacts caused by the fall or movement of bulky materials during handling or conveying operations.
Thanks to this design, the system can be installed directly in areas where transported products (bulk, granules, various solid materials) may impact the sensor, without risk of damaging the level detector. The cage absorbs and distributes mechanical stresses while allowing the detector to operate freely to ensure reliable detection.
The SOLIBA PM assembly therefore consists of a metal protective cage combined with a standard or ATEX-certified solid level detector SOLIBA (SOLIBA EX P), suitable for dust zones 21 and 22.

Securing installations by tiltingInstalled inside, above, a belt conveyor, or inside the storage cell, it is suspended at the end of its chain. During filling, the bulk material (stone, pebbles, granules, etc.) forms a slope. When the slope reaches the detector, it causes it to tilt. The change in inclination then activates an electrical contact, which sends a stop or command signal to the automation system (e.g. stopping filling, triggering an alarm, etc.).
|
The triggering of the level detector (switching angle) can vary depending on its position relative to the slope formed by the bulk material, but especially depending on the positioning of the ballast or the fixing point.
You have the possibility to adjust the fixing point or the counterweight on the cable of the device. Thus, the greater the distance between the ballast and the detector, the greater the switching angle, and consequently the later the level detection.
To adjust the ballast on the cable, simply pull on the plastic or resin ballast to unclip it from the clamping ring or O-ring. Then slide the clamping ring / O-ring to the desired location and replace the ballast on it, so that the weight is locked on the cable.
Detector mountingThe level detector can be suspended via the cable sheath, using a support or the fixing accessory, FIXCAB, which allows the electrical cable to be properly fixed at the desired height and allows precise adjustment at any time. Be careful when using clamps or other elements during fixing, which can damage the cable and deteriorate the device by letting water enter inside the float level switch by capillarity.

The SOLIBA PM level detector must be suspended by means of a reinforcement chain independent of the electrical cable. This chain has the function of taking up the mechanical forces generated by impacts, movements of the stored material and dynamic stresses, in order to avoid any stress on the electrical cable and to prevent its tearing or premature deterioration. The detector must also be installed at a sufficient distance from the wall to ensure free and optimal movement, a necessary condition for its proper operation and detection reliability. |
In outdoor or humid spaces, the electrical connection of the float level switch must be waterproof and properly insulated in a hermetic box, thus preventing water or other contaminants from entering the cable. This helps prevent water infiltration that could compromise the safety of electrical connections as well as the float's service life. The electrical connection box must never be placed inside the tank. The cable and its capillary can be extended using a standard signal cable. We equip our floats with the cable length you want to avoid connections that would harm their operation. |
The SOLIBA PM is a simple and reliable mechanical solution for securing your installations compared to other types of equipment such as vibrating blades, capacitive probes, ultrasound, radar, etc.
The SOLIBA PM is specially designed to withstand the most demanding conditions for solid and abrasive materials, such as stones, gravel or pebbles. Its aluminum casting body and protective metal cage guarantee exceptional resistance to mechanical impacts.
Thanks to its tilt operating principle, it reliably detects the high level in conveyors, hoppers or silos, ensuring loading stops before any excess material.
Thanks to its cylindrical shape, the detector does not sink into the grain during detection phases. This geometry ensures excellent position stability guaranteeing reliable and repeatable detection over time.
