SOBA EP
ACS certified water level regulator

Ideal for drinking water

The SOBA EP water level regulator ACS certified (Sanitary Compliance Certificate) is manufactured with special materials designed for permanent immersion in drinking water for human consumption, food-grade environments, thanks to its adjustable ballast made of AISI 316L stainless steel for food-grade applications.

Its specific design ensures safe and compliant use for precise level control in reservoirs and drinking water treatment systems.

For precise control, the use of two float level switches can be considered to maintain the liquid level between predefined lower and upper limits. When the water level reaches the position of the float level switch, the SOBA EP water level regulator responds by activating or deactivating the circuit. This triggers necessary actions, such as activating an alarm or starting/stopping a pump.

However, in dynamic fluid conditions, turbulent water, the SOBA EP water level regulator is not suitable. Instead, select the ATS 165 EP float level switch.

Operating principle

Drainage or Filling

The SOBA EP level regulator operates on the principle of tilt-based level detection.
The float moves up and down freely with the liquid level in the tank.

When the liquid reaches a predefined level, the float tilts, causing the opening or closing of an integrated mechanical switch according to the chosen operating mode (filling or drainage).

The float is equipped with a three-conductor cable (COM, NO, NC), allowing the operating mode to be selected during wiring:

Used in pairs with another float of the same type, it allows regulation of the minimum and maximum levels of a tank.

Drainage mode

In drainage mode, the level switch located at the high level triggers the pump start (overflow protection). An electric current passes through the float to the connected device (control relay, pumps, valves, alarms).

Once the tank is empty, the level switch in the low position cuts the electrical circuit to protect the equipment (pumps) in the absence of water in the tank.

Filling mode

In filling mode, the electrical circuit inside the switch closes (NC) when the switch is in the low position. Thus, the pump starts to fill the tank.

Installation guide

Ballast positioning

The triggering of the float level switch (switching angle) can vary depending on liquid agitation, filling/drainage flow rate but especially on the positioning of the ballast or fixing point. Indeed, the cable length between the counterweight and the float switch determines the amount of liquid that rises or lowers to bring the float switch to change state.

You have the possibility to adjust the counterweight on the device cable to optimize its operation.

You have the possibility to adjust the counterweight on the device cable, thus the greater the distance between the ballast and the float, the greater the level difference will be, consequently the greater the switching angle will be.

This allows the float to adapt to possible turbulence in the liquid but also allows the float to work in a wide range of densities.

Below are values given as a guide for the SOBA EP level regulator with a minimum and maximum cable length to ensure correct operation:

Min. value Y = 10cm > X approx. 25-30 CM

Max. value Y = 30cm > X approx. 45-50 CM

To adjust the ballast on the cable, simply pull slightly upward on the AISI 316l stainless steel ballast to unclip it from the O-ring. Then, slide the O-ring to the desired location and replace the ballast on top of it, so that the weight is locked on the cable.

Float fixing

The float level switch can be suspended via the cable sheath, using the FIXCAB fixing accessory, which allows proper fixing of the electrical cable at the desired height and allows precise adjustment at any time.

Be careful when using clamps or other elements during fixing that can damage the cable and deteriorate the device by allowing water to enter inside the float level switch by capillarity.

Electrical connection

In outdoor or humid spaces, the electrical connection of the float level switch must be watertight and properly insulated in a hermetic box, thus preventing water or other contaminants from penetrating the cable. This helps prevent water infiltration that could compromise the safety of electrical connections as well as the float's lifespan.

The electrical connection box must never be placed inside the tank. The cable and its capillary can be extended using a standard signal cable.

We equip our floats with the cable length you want to avoid connections that would impair their operation.

Key points

Low triggering angle

The ACS certified SOBA EP level regulator allows fast and precise detection on multiple levels thanks to its switching angle of +/- 25 degrees.

AISI 316 L stainless steel ballast

The ACS certified SOBA EP level regulator is equipped with a 230 g stainless steel ballast essential for proper float operation. It determines the rotation point according to the desired liquid levels. It can be adjusted at any time according to need.

Biconical shape

Thanks to its smooth biconical envelope, the accumulation of impurities is limited. The ACS float level switch requires no maintenance, making it both an economical and reliable solution. It is designed to resist wear, thus ensuring constant and long-lasting performance.
