PIEZO AS
Piezometric level probe

Robustness in immersion in your wastewater

The piezometric probe PIEZO AS is designed to withstand prolonged immersion, ensuring reliability and robustness in demanding wastewater environments.

The piezometric probe enables continuous monitoring of water levels in pumping stations, water treatment, wastewater treatment plant, pumping station. It is also used for pump automation through a control relay.

The piezometric probe continuously records the filling or drainage level of a tank, which is not possible with a float level switch that can only detect the presence of a liquid at a given point.

It consists of a piezoresistive sensor that measures the pressure of the filling medium at the bottom of the tank and thus calculates the corresponding fill level. Due to gravity, the hydrostatic pressure increases proportionally to the tank fill level.

Operating principle

"Install, immerse, measure: Precision at the heart of your installations"

A piezometric probe is an instrument used to measure the piezometric level of a groundwater table or tank, i.e. the water pressure expressed as water column height by converting the hydrostatic pressure of the water column into an electrical signal.

The piezometric probe is placed at the bottom of a borehole, well or tank, immersed in water. The hydrostatic probe contains a piezoresistive pressure sensor that measures the pressure exerted by the water column located above the probe.

The piezoresistive sensor converts this pressure into an electrical signal (in mA, V or via digital communication). This signal is proportional to the water height.

The signal is sent to a controller or recorder. The piezometric level is then directly obtained (relative to ground level or a reference elevation).

Probe mounting

The piezometric probe can be suspended via the cable sheath, using a support the cable fixing accessory, FIXCAB, which allows proper fixing of the electrical cable at the desired height and enables precise adjustment at any time.

If the piezometric probe is frequently removed or at risk of snagging, it is recommended to use a stainless steel support cable with eyelet to lift the probe.

Caution when using clamps or other elements during fixing which can damage the cable and deteriorate the device by allowing water to enter inside the float level switch by capillarity.

Electrical connection

The electrical connection must be placed in a non-sealed enclosure (the internal pressure of the enclosure must be equal to atmospheric pressure), thus preventing water or other contaminants from entering the capillary. This prevents water infiltration that could compromise the safety of electrical connections as well as the probe's service life.

The electrical connection box must never be placed inside the tank. The cable and its capillary can be extended using a standard signal cable.

We equip our float level switches with the cable length you require to avoid connections that would impair their operation.
